Venti Means Large at Starbucks
As It was my turn at the window to get my usual Venti Pike Place with cream (to be read as: a large coffee with half and half - for my redneck friends who think Starbucks is the plural form of what was a character in a 1970's SciFi TV series), I casually said "I think I would rather swim in it this morning than drink it." Without hesitation and with the cantor of Ben Stein she retorted, "Oh I'm sorry Mr. Nolon, we don't brew enough coffee for that in a month's time." Without batting an eye I told her that it was ok, since it took me forever to learn to say Venti instead of large, I wouldn't know the proper Italian word to use to order that size anyway.
